<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; color:#1F497D">I rather think that you may have forgotten to define the volume of your cube as physical. If there are any physical groups defined, gmsh saves
 only those by default unless you check “save all (ignore physical groups)” when saving your mesh. What happens if you load the .msh file into gmsh?</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; color:#1F497D">Note that ElmerGUI doesn’t display the volume mesh by default, you have to check “View->Volume mesh” in order to see it. Check “Model->Summary”
 to find out how the mesh import worked out.</span></p>

 scratch, and it seemed to work this time around.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="color:black">I've just started using GMSH in conjunction with Elmer, and have encountered a problem for which I cannot find a solution. Whenever I import my GMSH model into Elmer, it ends up having
 only 1 surface, which is the entire model. So for example, say I make a cube in GMSH. I then 3D mesh it, then define physical groups by selecting each of the faces. I save as a MSH file with the default options (no boxes checked). I load it up into Elmer,
 and it only has 1 surface, which is the entire cube, irregardless of where I click.</span></p>
