[Gmsh] about mesh

i want to know how to use different characteristic length 
in the same area . for example ;  think about a elemant 
consist of 4 line and i want change the characteristic 
length of the one of them only. i.e first line =0.1 
(characteristic length) and other =1 (characteristic 
length).

i wonder is it possible or not. and how?
