GMSH with linux and OpenGL

I'm using slackware linux (glibc 2.1 and 2.2.13 kernel).  I have a problem
running GMSH due to an error loading libGL.so .   My linux distribution
comes with a libGLU.so and a libGL.so already, but I think there is a
version problem.  Could this be a problem with the Mesa? Utah-GLX?  Thanks
