There is a problem with the gauge. <br>
You should include the skin of the magnetic parts in it. I've modified
your test.geo file and test.pro file. That seems to work. <br>

Maybe you should increase a bit the refinement of the mesh in the
airgap.<br>

Doing some initial tests with gmsh/getdp, I have a problem to make convergent calculations. GetDp stop every time after 1000 iterations. Some B-vectors are scattered around (see attached picture).
Probably there is something wrong with the formulation. The Magsta_a_3D.pro file is a modified version of the MagSta_a2D, ...
The model is a simple U-shaped core with solenoid, sitting against a metal plate with an air gap of 1mm.
I did the same model in 2D with more success.
For the mesh, I just press 2D, the 3D, then optimise(Netgen) and then save. I tried already with finer meshes, no result.
Does someone has 5 minutes to have a look at my files, I'm struggling already some time with this.
